Richard serves as a member of the board of directors for Workforce America,
The Five O'Clock Club's not-for-profit career coaching organization
located in Harlem serving adults who are not yet in the professional or
managerial ranks. Workforce
America helps each person move into better-paying, higher-level positions
as each improves in educational level and work experience. He
is co-chair of New York's 'Employment Roundtable,' an organization of
senior executives from government, business, and think tanks, which meets
to discuss the important employment issues of our time. Members include
representatives from companies such as Time-Warner and Seagrams America,
the Conference Board and officials from the U.S. Department of
Labor. He has a background of 22 years of teaching at the University level in the areas of economics and ethics. He is associate editor of The Five O'Clock News, author of a book on labor economics (Georgetown University Press, 1999), author of 18 articles and reviews in scholarly journals, and numerous popular essays on topics concerning business ethics. Richard
currently lives in Manhattan with his wife.
