
About About Catherine Young,
Her sixteen years in career counseling, and her background in the corporate, nonprofit, and educational work environments-coupled with the Five O'Clock Club certification-enable Catherine to optimally assist individuals to use experiences, knowledge, and insight to achieve greater satisfaction in their careers. With her positive and practical approach, she helps job hunters and career changers stay focused and keep on track. Recognized for her ability to motivate others, Catherine excels at assisting individuals to overcome negative self-talk and effectively cope with job loss and rejection. She is adept at helping people address concerns and turn potential liabilities into positive attributes. An articulate presenter, Catherine facilitates career development and leadership training to area businesses and is a frequent guest speaker on job search and career exploration. She has appeared on television news programs and been interviewed for newspaper and magazine articles. She also presented, by invitation, to The Pennsylvania Department of Education Career Development Conference. Beyond her private practice, Catherine has worked as a career counselor at Lafayette College, Northampton Community College, and Career Link/Private Industry Council of Lehigh Valley. While she has worked with thousands of individuals encompassing a broad range of professional levels and career fields, she specializes in working with people over 40, career changers, those entering the workforce after an absence, and recent college graduates. Her areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, healthcare, logistics/distribution/supply chain, operations/manufacturing, social services, education, trades, transportation, and retail. Prior to her experience in academia and not-for-profit, Catherine traveled annually to the Far East as imports manager for an apparel manufacturer and a Fortune 500 subsidiary. Catherine holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership with an emphasis on career development from Lehigh University. She is a Certified Instructor of the Adkins Career Development Series from Columbia University, and she is qualified to administer and interpret the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Professional associations of which Catherine is a member include the Mid-Atlantic Career Counseling Association, National Career Development Association, Career Planning and Adult Development Network, Association for Career and Technical Education, and the American Society for Training and Development. She has also been an active Board member for The Center for Humanistic Change, an educational organization dedicated to helping people manage change and life transitions.
