About Mary Anne Walsh, Ed.D.

Cross Cultural Specialist

Mary Anne Walsh is a career coach and cross-cultural consultant who brings over two decades of relevant counseling experience to the Five O’Clock Club. She began using the Five O’Clock Club methodology while living in London and Tokyo for twelve years, where she coached individuals in the management of their careers during their time abroad.

 

Dr. Walsh consults with corporations on a variety of cross-cultural issues, including specialized career management, assessment of international assignments, and the operational impact of these and related issues. 

 

She brings a psychological orientation in working with executives. Her approach is to help executives use coaching as a developmental tool to impact bottom line results. Managers, executives and employees in transition partner with Mary Anne to accelerate their growth as strong focused leaders. She specializes in advising clients to leverage their strengths, strategize their career choices and optimize satisfaction to achieve a balanced life.  Her very direct approach blends practicality, intuition, humor and sensitivity into a process that leads her clients to conclusions that they otherwise might have overlooked. Her international corporate clients have included financial services, pharmaceuticals, communications and consumer products industries.

 

Dr. Walsh has addressed large audiences at professional and academic meetings in the US, Europe and Asia.  Her fundamental message is the value of one’s journey through life and not simply the destination. This serves to underscore her professional philosophy which she brings to each client engagement.

 

Mary Anne founded the Career Planning & Placement Office at Caldwell College. She served as a counselor in a family counseling clinic in New Jersey. She has also served as a visiting faculty member in the Psychological Department at Seton Hall University and Caldwell College, developing and teaching courses at the graduate level.

 

Dr. Walsh received a BA degree from Caldwell College, an MA in Counseling from Seton Hall University, and earned her doctorate from Columbia University in New York.  She is certified in the MBTI and is a member of the American Psychological Association, SIETAR and ICMP. Recently, she has completed her certification at the Career Masters Institute and is a Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association in New York.
