About Win Sheffield

Win’s passion to develop a private practice as a career coach led him to complete Five O'Clock Club certification in 2004.

After a career in strategy development and implementation at Citibank, J.P. Morgan and PricewaterhouseCoopers, Win made his own transition into career coaching, following up on a long-time interest and avocation. He has been gratified by feedback from clients that he has helped them improve their attitudes, gain confidence and become grounded in the job search process.

Win’s clients include professionals from banking, entertainment, not-for-profit & government sectors, with strengths in marketing, management and other specialties.

In addition to his Five O'Clock Club certification, Win holds an M.B.A. from Boston University, an undergraduate degree from Kenyon College, and has studied Myers-Briggs and counseling.  Win is active in professional organizations and serves on a number of foundation boards.

Win also works with other career coaches to develop their training materials and speaking proficiency, and helps organizations to facilitate their strategic planning.  Win is a frequent speaker in the New York area.

He is a firm believer that chance favors the prepared.  If you search long enough, you probably will find a job. But how soon—and will it be a job you want? There is a better way, namely the Five O'Clock Club methodology.

Win’s approach combines out-of-the-box thinking with practical advice to help clients move quickly to explore and establish themselves in new jobs.  Taking into account time constraints, skills and financial considerations, Win helps clients to find alternatives they might otherwise have overlooked, and to get top dollar for their services, even in new careers.

Since the average job in the U.S. today lasts less than five years, Win guides his clients to develop a variety of skills to manage their careers on an ongoing basis. He helps create cover letters worth reading and résumés that get his clients in the door. He knows the subtleties of networking, the keys to interview preparation and follow-up, and salary negotiation.
