About Max Lorenz, Ph.D.,

Master Coach

Max Lorenz brings a wealth of professional experience to his role as a Five O'Clock Club coach. Max manages his own consulting firm that he started in 1997, working with organizations and individuals on assessment for selection, development, and alignment; coaching for leadership, career and personal development. He also provides change and transition services and acts as an expert witness for law firms on the employability of executives. He completed a six-month Executive Coach Training Program provided by B/Coach Systems in 2001. Dr. Lorenz is a Psychological Health Service Provider.

Previously Dr. Lorenz worked over 15 years as the staff psychologist for Drake Beam Morin. In this capacity he managed large corporate accounts, executive career assessment, new product development, project management, career counseling, executive coaching, group facilitation, and career development. He has worked successfully with a wide range of corporate populations, including senior executives, mid-level managers, and high-potential employees. He was an active member of the St. Louis DBM team that was acknowledged as the "Outstanding Domestic DBM Office" in 1995.

Dr. Lorenz has worked for the last 20 years with executives and organizations to provide value-added services to enhance human capital. This includes five years as Vice President for Employee Counseling Service, the EAP division of Provident Counseling, the oldest and largest mental health organization in St. Louis.

Dr. Lorenz has ten years of experience in management positions. Prior to working with corporations, he worked for the Missouri Department of Mental Health providing comprehensive services to the developmentally disabled. He began his career as a member of the Psychology Department for Jefferson College. In addition, he taught part-time at both the graduate and undergraduate level for Webster University and the St. Louis Community College system. Presently, he is an adjunct faculty member at Washington University and Webster University.

Throughout his professional work history, Max has specialized in team-building, start-up operations, service innovations, customer service, high quality service delivery, and education/training.

He is a licensed Psychologist in Missouri and has a Ph.D. from Saint Louis University with a focus in Counseling and Organizational Psychology. He has an M.A. in Psychology from Oklahoma State University and a B.A. in Psychology from Harding University.

He is a member of the International Coach Federation, American Psychological Association including division 13 Consulting Psychology, division 14 Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, division 17 Counseling Psychology, the Missouri Psychological Association, and the Gateway Industrial/Organizational Psychologists. He is a past member and officer of the American Society for Training and Development (St. Louis Chapter) and the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (St. Louis Chapter).
