About Suzanne Harwood,
Suzanne brings over 30 years of business experience in marketing and sales management to her executive coaching and career management practice. Her organizational and strategy savvy are based especially on her 13 years as a Vice or Senior Vice President and department head. During the start-up years of a leading media services company, she led the new business effort and was a member of the firm's 13-person corporate operating team.
Adept at establishing trust quickly and building long-term relationships, Suzanne motivated diverse corporate teams and subordinates to work across functional silos to achieve goals that translated into bottom line results. A believer in the importance of staff development and the performance review process, she facilitated workshops and coached individuals for movement into management, focusing on building skills and improving performance.
Suzanne started her own coaching consultancy in 2000 following the completion of career and executive coaching coursework at New York University. Suzanne completed Five O'Clock Guild certification in 2002, and today leads one of our small groups for executives. She also is an associate with a leading international career management firm.
Suzanne brings to her coaching the business acumen and leadership ability of a senior manager with P & L and staff-development experience. Sensitive to the organizational and interpersonal dynamics inherent in every business, her goal-oriented coaching combines (1) helping clients read situations and people with (2) the development of core management competencies.
MBTI qualified, Suzanne is a past Board Member of the New York Chapter of The Association for Psychological Type, and past chair of the Program and Career Development Committees of the Ad Club of New York. A graduate of Alfred University, Suzanne is an Advisory Board member of the Women's Leadership Center at Alfred. She also is an appointee to the AARP Executive Council New York Region, a strategic Advisory board.
Suzanne is a regular speaker on career management topics at universities and libraries within the tri-state region, as well as before business associations and alumni groups. The upcoming Five O'Clock Club book "Work Smart" includes her chapter on navigating the start of a new job.
Suzanne's early employers included: The New York Times Magazine Group, Meredith, Sesame Workshop and Horizon Media, a leading independent media buying service.
