Follow-Up I

The All Important Follow-Up Phase

(See our book Interviewing and Salary Negotiation for a more detailed explanation.)

In addition to targeting, follow-up is the most important reason Five O'Clock Clubbers land jobs quickly. After the interview is when you really need to run with the ball.

This is the brainiest part of the process! Remember, the search process includes three parts: Preparation, Interviewing, and Follow-Up. Spend an equal amount of time on each. A good follow-up phase requires that you show persistence, that you keep in touch, that you learn from experience, and that you develop an accurate idea of your worth in the marketplace.

If you would like your small group to help you develop your follow-up strategy for after a job interview, bring this up at the beginning of your turn. It is likely to take a good deal of time, so don't talk about other things first. Prioritize how you want your group to help you.

Mistakes for you to avoid.
